Album review by Luci Scott
Forever on High, a Gold Coast band made up of Justin (vocals), Will (bass), Kevin (guitar), and Josh (drums), is dropping their debut album Brand New Low on August 30th. Featuring Travis from We The Kings, this album is a solid start for the band, offering a taste of what they can do.
The title track, ‘Brand New Low’ kicks things off with strong, energetic vocals from Justin and Travis. But if you weren’t told Travis was featured, you might not even notice—both vocalists sound that similar. The acoustic version of ‘Brand New Low’ has a stunning instrumental, but it feels like the original track’s vocals were just slowed down, missing an opportunity to add something fresh.
‘Smoking Gun’, the first single, stands out with its upbeat, fresh vibe, while ‘Forgetting Yesterday’ brings major All Time Low energy. Though it might fly under the radar, it’s a hidden gem and my personal favourite. The other tracks, ‘Calling’ and ‘Holding On’ have already been released as singles. ‘Calling’ especially shines as a fun, party-ready pop- punk anthem that could easily become a fan favourite.

If you’re into bands like All Time Low, We The Kings, or State Champs, you’ll want to give Brand New Low a spin. It’s packed with catchy melodies and that feel-good, high-energy vibe that makes pop-punk so addictive.
Overall, Brand New Low is a promising debut from Forever On High, though it leaves you wanting more—there are only five original tracks, with the other three being acoustic versions. But the potential is real, and this band is one to watch.
