Interview by Luci Scott
Recently Stand Atlantic announced their fourth studio album and dropped the single ‘GIRL$‘, a sparkling collab track with fellow alt pop stars LYNN GUNN of PVRIS and Mexican alt rocker BRUSES. The band is out for blood as they announce Was Here (Out August 23), which showcases the band’s most masterful songwriting to date. With a murderous album cover and an equally as killer 15 song tracklist, Stand Atlantic is ready to bulldoze their way to the top.
Luci had the opportunity to catch up with singer Bonnie Fraser while they are on tour – direct from a hotel room and there is pizza involved, talking tour and new music.

Album review – Was Here
Stand Atlantic’s latest album WAS HERE is a bold evolution, blending raw emotion with a new level of experimentation that will resonate deeply with fans both old and new. This isn’t just another album; it’s a statement. From the first note, it’s clear that the band has pushed their boundaries, creating something darker, heavier, and more unapologetically authentic than ever before.
One of the standout tracks, ‘Nose Bleed’ featuring Sueco, is an absolute earworm that has been stuck in my head since the first listen. The track’s blend of infectious hooks and gritty production perfectly encapsulates the chaotic yet controlled energy that defines WAS HERE. Sueco’s contribution adds a unique flavour, making this collaboration a highlight of the album.
But if there’s one track that truly captures the essence of Stand Atlantic’s new direction, it’s ‘KISSIN’ KILLER COBRAS’. This high-energy banger is the kind of song that makes you want to move, mosh, and just lose yourself in the music. It’s a perfect example of how the band has embraced heavier influences while still maintaining their signature sound. I can’t wait to see this one performed live on their upcoming tour—it’s bound to be a crowd favourite.
The album as a whole reflects a tumultuous period in lead vocalist Bonnie Fraser’s life, resulting in a deeply personal and cathartic experience for both the band and their listeners. Tracks like ‘FRENEMIES’ and ‘WAR ZONE’ showcase the band’s ability to seamlessly blend caustic metal influences with their pop-punk roots, creating a sound that’s both familiar and entirely new.
WAS HERE isn’t just an album; it’s a journey through the highs and lows of life, a reflection of the band’s evolution both musically and personally. With guest appearances from Polaris, PVRIS, and Bruses, the album is as diverse as it is cohesive, proving that Stand Atlantic is unafraid to explore new territories and push their creative limits.
In short, WAS HERE is a must-listen for anyone who loves music that makes you feel something. Whether you’re head banging to ‘KISSIN’ KILLER COBRAS’ or getting lost in the emotional depths of ’17’, there’s something on this album for everyone. Stand Atlantic has once again proven that they are a force to be reckoned with, and I, for one, can’t wait to see where they go next.
