I had the incredible opportunity to attend the sold out You Me at Six Truth Decay tour at The Tivoli on Thursday night, and it was an absolute powerhouse of a show. With Set It Off and Between You and Me joining the lineup, the evening was destined for greatness, and all three bands delivered unforgettable performances that left the crowd in awe.
Kicking off the night, Between You and Me set the bar sky-high with their high-energy performance. Despite being an opening band, they commanded the stage with a level of enthusiasm and movement that surpassed some headliners. These Melbourne-based boys know how to ignite a crowd, and their set was filled with non-stop jumping, both on and off the stage. The climax came during ‘Deadbeat’ as Bassy and JT leaped into the crowd, igniting a wild wall of death that engulfed the venue. It was an exhilarating moment that showcased the band’s infectious energy and left everyone wanting more.

Set It Off was a revelation for me as I had never seen them live before. Despite my familiarity with their music, their stage presence and performance blew me away. Frontman Cody worked the crowd with masterful skill, effortlessly commanding everyone’s attention. The band gave their all, delivering a relentless display of energy throughout their set. A standout moment was when Cody and drummer Maxx switched roles for an entire song, sparking an explosion of excitement from the crowd. Set It Off played a mix of newer tracks like ‘Win Win’ and ‘Punching Bag’ along with beloved classics such as ‘Why Worry’, ‘Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing’ and ‘N.M.E’. Their dynamic performance was a true testament to their showmanship and musicianship.

Finally, it was time for the long-awaited performance by You Me at Six. They took the stage with an undeniable presence, captivating the audience from the very first note. The pit erupted with an intense energy for songs like ‘Bite My Tongue’ and ‘What’s Its Like’ rivaling even hardcore shows. The band delivered an electrifying performance, showcasing their mastery of their craft.
You Me at Six took control of the room with their songs from the new album, leaving an indelible impression on the crowd. ‘God Bless the 90s Kids’ resonated with everyone, evoking a nostalgic and anthemic energy that had the entire venue singing along. And when they performed ‘Take on the World’ the room was illuminated by a sea of phone lights, creating a magical atmosphere of unity and connection. These songs showcased the band’s ability to captivate and inspire, leaving a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to witness their live performance.

One of the most beautiful moments of the night came with their raw and beautiful rendition of ‘No One Does It Better’. As the song filled the venue, the crowd sang along in unison, creating an atmosphere of collective emotion. Looking around, I saw people singing with tears in their eyes, truly touched by the moment. Josh, the lead vocalist, took a moment to express his love for Brisbane and the profound impact this tour has had on the band. It was evident that this was more than just another tour stop – it was a heartfelt connection between the band and the city.
The You Me at Six Truth Decay tour at The Tivoli was an extraordinary night of music. Each band brought their A-game, showcasing their unique talents and leaving an indelible mark on the audience. Between You and Me set the stage ablaze with their infectious energy, Set It Off stunned with their captivating performance, and You Me at Six reminded us why they are one of the most revered bands in the scene. The show was a perfect blend of raw energy, emotional moments, and a sense of camaraderie among the fans. It was a night to remember, and Brisbane can proudly say they were a part of one of You Me at Six’s most memorable tours to date
